Surgical Sutures/Polyglactin

Polyglactin surgical sutures are absorbable, synthetic sutures made from a copolymer of glycolide and lactide, designed for secure wound closure with minimal tissue reaction. These sutures offer high tensile strength, ensuring reliable wound support during the critical healing phase before gradual absorption by the body.

Polyglactin sutures are coated with polyglactin and calcium stearate, enhancing their smooth passage through tissues while reducing friction and trauma. They retain approximately 50% of their tensile strength for 2–3 weeks and are completely absorbed within 56–70 days through hydrolysis, eliminating the need for suture removal.
